Ministry and Healing

This is a study to once again bring clarity to the simple, yet lost principles of ministry.
A lot of this study will contradict, many forms and patterns of ministry today.
This is a common occurrence; where customs and traditions replace the original teachings and practices that were ordained by the Lord.
It was Josiah that found the book of the law in the house of God, he began to read it and reintroduce many of the lost traditions, namely the Passover; It is time for us to search the word of God to find, and restore the practices of the early church.
How was it formed, how was it managed, how did people enter the ministry in comparison to today?
Calling
I believe the foundations of the new testament ministry were put in place by Jesus himself.
Luke 6:12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. 13And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles: 14Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew; 15Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the Zealot; 16Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot who also became a traitor.
Jesus called twelve, there is no mystery involved, he chose twelve out of maybe two hundred or so followers.
Jesus does the same thing today he chooses men and women today to represent him.
Sometimes he will chose the most unlikely of Characters.
1 Samuel 16
1Now the LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons……..
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
Of all the people you would expect, the last you would have thought is David, but God does not look as we do.
So even today the Lord is finding men and women that he has chosen for the ministry.
Acts 9:15-17 But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. 16For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake."
Saul would have been the last person the early church would have chosen for the ministry. Could you imagine the early church sending Saul to bible school, to get a degree.
I think one of the main difference between today's church and the authentic, apostolic church is, the heavy involvement of Jesus with the early believers. They were spontaneous, dynamic, miraculous, we are predictable, organized, programmed.
They had great visions, signs and wonders while we just wonder.
As strange as it seems God knows more about church ministry and how to grow than we do, he can actually teach us a thing or two!
The Lord added .
The early church consulted him, and sought his direction, we either tell what to do, or we tell him what we are going to do.
Ephesians 4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. 8Therefore He says:
"When He ascended on high,
He led captivity captive,
And gave gifts to men."
9(Now this, "He ascended"-what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)
11And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
HE GAVE, HE IS THE LORD.
Psalms 68:18 You have ascended on high,
You have led captivity captive;
You have received gifts among men,
Even from the rebellious,
That the LORD God might dwell there.
19 Blessed be the Lord,
Who daily loads us with benefits,
The God of our salvation!

Mark 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.
Romans 1:1 (NKJV)
1Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God
Romans 11:13 (NKJV)
13For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,
1 Timothy 2:7 (NKJV)
7for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle-I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying-a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
Galatians 1:1 (NKJV)
1Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead),
Paul clearly knew who had called him into ministry.
Many today went, when the Apostles were sent.
Now we are clear about calling into the ministry, and their is no such thing as called a preacher and always a preacher even in a backslidden state…no it is just the wrong interpretation to Romans
Romans 11:29 (NKJV)
29For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. This scripture if read in context applies to the Jewish nation, and has no other application.
King Saul Backslid and God left him, many of the Kings with whom God was working, when they forsook God, The Lord forsook them.
We will now look more closely at the ministry Jesus gave them.
Matthew 10:1 (NKJV)
1And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.
Matthew 10:8 (NKJV)
8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
It is freely given, you do not earn it by fasting or prayer, it is free, fasting and prayer helps us, to focus on Christ.
Mark 3:14 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, 15and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:
Luke 9:2 (NKJV)
2He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
The evidence of these scriptures seems to suggest that the ministry of Jesus and the ministry he passed on to the Apostles had two main emphasis.. To Preach the Gospel of the Kingdom…… and To heal the sick
Preach ….Heal
Talk and Demonstration
It is very different to today's church which is programme and event based.
This conference, and that conference from marriage, to church growth , this concert with special singers, and artist, entrance fee £5.00 be there!
We have sales and promotion techniques, with the early church the people noised abroad. Today we noise abroad how great our ministry is.
Healing, what do we understand about the ministry of healing.
Look what Peter said about Jesus
Act 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
You could say that when God is with you this is the result.
I call it Declaration & Demonstration
Hebrews 2:4 (NKJV)
4God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
Healing
1 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,
1 Corinthians 12:28 (NKJV)
28And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.
We are to do the Works of Christ
John 14:12 (NKJV)
12"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
In other words we will be equipped and enabled to do the works of Christ.
What were the works of Christ? healing, raising the dead, calming storms, Miracles
These Gifts are from God but operated by us, they are applied by faith.
Even the gift of tongues, you speak as the Lord gives the utterance, you first have to open your mouth. Acts 2:4
With the gifts of healing the principle is the same, you lay hands and command then the Holy Spirit performs the work.
In the earlier chapters we see that God told them to do it, Heal the sick, Cleanse the Lepers, Raise the dead.
If you are asked to do something and given the equipment, then you must do it.
God is not asleep, the moment we make a step, God is ahead of what we are doing.
The Devil has works and we are to destroy his works.
1 John 3:8 (NKJV)
8He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
How do you destroy something?
The best way to explain it is this: In the towns of Zimbabwe, many people would illegally, build shacks on government owned land, the Government sent in bull dozers and crushed them and smashed them down.
In the same way we are to demolish the works of Satan, Sickness, disease and Death
Demon possession, we are to cast them out and bring the remedy. The Cure
The baton has been passed unto us, we are to carry on destroying the works of the devil.
In Mark in obedience they did not philosophies over what Jesus Meant, and ask each other whether it was in Greek or Aramaic and what he really meant by it.
They just went:
Mark 16:20 (NKJV)
20And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.
We waste far to much time in Theory, we need some action.
Healing takes three forms
Doing of Cure
Restoring health
To make whole or sound

To have true faith we have to understand The Will Of God concerning our Healing

In the book of Matthew after Jesus has finished teaching, one of the most powerful sermons ever, you cam see the absolute contrast between Jesus and Moses, Moses said but I say unto you.
In the book of John it states that the law came by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
This contrast is highlighted even more as in Jesus meets lepers on his way down from the mountain.
In the Old testament they were seen as unclean, and had to stay away from the congregation, but Jesus not only approaches them but heals them.
Matthew 8
1When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean."
3Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
Master.. IS IT YOUR WILL TO HEAL US? The answer is YES
Is it Gods will to heal us today…the answer is YES

James 1:17 (NKJV)
17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
In other words God was not forced to make you, it was his choice to make you so why would he leave you to remain, sick and not want to help you.
Why would a manufacturer build a computer with a fault intentionally, and even if it had a fault, you would return it and it would be under guarantee.
For extra ordinary fetes we must ask his will as peter did, when asked to walk on Water…Lord if it be thy will. Bid me come, and Jesus gave consent, but for healing it is an established truth that God wants to heal you, maybe even more than you want it because that is how he is. His Nature is Goodness.
Faith can only operate when we know the will of God
It is clearly in scripture Gods will to heal us.
Here is a scenario to make it clearer, could you imagine I promised to take the children to the theatre, or cinema, and for some reason I was called away. Because they are teenagers I tell them to Go to Vue Cinemas they have the paid tickets, just give them your name and address.
Would it make sense for Aaron or Mathew to track me down, by phone to ask if they are allowed to go, when the very fact that I have paid for and reserved the tickets is evidence of my will.
In the same way it is not necessary to pursue God again over the subject of healing, when it has been paid for and reserved.
The reason why God heals, what is the Purpose
To Glorify God
John 21:19 (NKJV)
19This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."
The Ultimate goal of all ministry is to glorify God

Matthew 9:8 (NKJV)
8Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.

Matthew 15:31 (NKJV)
31So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.

When Jesus healed it was to bring glory to God, and demonstrate his power.

Mark 2:12 (NKJV)
12Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!"
In this particular case, the man was paralyzed and to the onlooker it was the immediate need, but Jesus first addresses his sins, and the right he had as the Son of man to forgive sins. This brought criticism from the Pharisees

Acts 4:21 (NKJV)
21So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done.
John 14:13 (NKJV)
13And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)
16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

To Demonstrate and attest the Power of the Kingdom, and The Resurrection which was the Greatest Healing

Jesus was literally in the Grave for three days, decay was about to set in, when the life giving spirit came into him and he rose from the dead with a regenerated body that could never die again.
Healing is the children's bread but it is Just a trail to lead us to the resurrection.

Matthew 15:26 (NKJV)
26But He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs."

The resurrection and the salvation of your soul is the ultimate goal
Romans 8:11 (NKJV)
11But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
