Hebrews 11; 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him:
for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder
of them that diligently seek him.
We must first believe that he is, not was, or will be in the future but that
he is; now present, Jehovah shamah, and we must believe that He will reward
diligence. And throughout this chapter the writer of Hebrews begins to use many
examples, and from this style alone, you can see that it is not Paul, this is
preaching.
Many of the principles in the secular world are parallel to the principles in
the Kingdom of God.
In fact a parable is an earthly, story, anecdote, metaphor that explains the
spiritual.
This is also true with the principle of reward
There are various rewards in the secular arena:-
Sainsbury have a reward card; The Nectar Card that awards you
with points according to what you buy.
The reward is given as an incentive to be faithful to them and to always shop
with them.
Some products award you with more points than others.
If you were to be an employee of the Bank of Scotland there are
Rewards.-
A good salary that reflects your, skill level, an annual review, with rising
increments
A bonus scheme based on performance
Permanent health insurance
Dental & private medical insurance
Child care vouchers
4 to 5 weeks holiday
Pension scheme
Profit sharing scheme
God wants You to Serve him with diligence so he can Reward You
These are the rewards you are entitled to as an employee of the bank of Scotland
These rewards are mentioned as an incentive to join there organization.
God uses these very same principles
When you join his organization there are rewards and benefits, when you serve
him with diligence there are benefits, and Rewards:-
In fact God has a healthcare and medical insurance in...
Isaiah 53 He was wounded for our transgression bruised for our iniquities and
by his stripes we are healed.
There is also a comprehensive life insurance when you serve
him
It is called the eternal life policy
St John 3:16 "for God so loved the world
God wants us to seek rewards from him; in fact the reward he promises us is
the incentive.
God also has a benefits package
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply
all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
It is clear that throughout the scriptures God has always promised to reward the diligent.
Balaam sought reward from Balaak
Instead of Jehovah
God appeared to Abraham after the battle of the five kings, he had just slaughtered them with 400 trained servants to rescue his nephew Lot. After such a battle you can imagine maybe Abraham feared a reprisal in the future for example as a result of the UK entering into Iraq we are now facing many problems as a result.
So it could be that Abraham feared the same thing but the Lord discerned this and gave a prophetic word of encouragement.
Genesis 15: 1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
The Lord is our rewarder Hallelujah, God has promised to reward
diligence.
Do Not Fear Abraham, when you serve me I have a policy of protection, and a
good defence strategy
in fact the lord said I am thy shield, I am your
great rewarder.Hallelujah!
I have a benefits package, I'm your bonus scheme I am your nectar card, and
I even have a breakdown and recovery service.
Abraham wanted now to make a claim on the policy...ok Lord I believe you are
my rewarder, I have no children
The Lord again shows him his entitlement,
Abraham count the stars he said I cannot there are too many, well God said so
shall your generations be.
There are some genuine benefits to serving the Lord, but they
are only directed to the diligent.
The problem with many of these modern prosperity preachers is that they claim
it for everyone in the church, when it is only for the faithful and diligent.
For God Only rewards the diligent seeker.
Our God is a rewarder Hallelujah; he will not hold back our benefits and rewards.
I remember my first job as a trainee carpenter/handyperson this job ill never
forget was called Hogarth builders, he promised to God wants you to serve him
with diligence so he can Reward You
Train me as a carpenter
.and even agreed a certain wage
many times
I would be doing overtime, and he promised
To reward me
.but when it came to pay day, it seem to hurt
him so much to pay me and when I would check the money it was always short.
But God is not a man that he should lie, he is faithful and on pay day he will
give even more than you could of asked or thought
.God is a rewarder,
not your boss at work, not the tax credit office, the Lord is, so focus on him
be diligent, delight yourself in him, as says he will give you the desires of
your heart.
Some of the principles by which the kingdom of God works are not too different
from us.
In the natural diligence is rewarded: - and some of the words
that can be used to describe diligence are
.hard working, conscientious,
meticulous, and attentive
In industry and commerce these attributes are rewarded, with bonuses, increase
in wages, promotion.
God will always reward the diligent follower, the parable of the talents the
two that increased were rewarded accordingly; the one that hid it was cursed.
Jesus in the Revelations 22:12 "Behold I come quickly and my reward is
with me to give to every man according to his labour, and effort,"
My wife was awarded an evening at the Dorchester Hotel, we had access to the
sports facilities, the Jacuzzi, we wined and dined at the 5 star restaurant,
it was a reward for sales and punctuality "the eagle award", and customer
service.
But The Lord has a reward for us not just in this life that far exceeds the
Dorchester, the streets will be gold the grass is so green, the robes we wear
are so white, they are dazzling.
God will always reward the diligent follower.
God wants You to Serve him with diligence so he can Reward You
Saints do not be lazy be attentive hard working in the things of God. You see
Go does not look at what you say, just like in many of the modern songs they
mention the greatness and they Glorify
God with there lips but is looking at what you do, that speaks louder.
Work hard for God and he will promote you.
Matthew 6:16 moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance:
for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily
I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint
thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto
thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall
reward thee openly.
There are three things of which God will reward openly; once it is done secretly:
ALMS GIVING (giving to the poor)
PRAYER
FASTING
These are practices that when done in secret, you will be publicly rewarded, people will see the blessing on your life, it will be clear to all that God is with you.
It is clear from the book of Hebrews that there is nothing wrong
with serving God for reward
..it is clear from the passage that its emphasis
was the ultimate reward, eternal life
But what is also clear is that when we are diligent, faithful in the things
of God, we will have a reward.
Scriptures:
1 Timothy 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that
thy profiting may appear to all.
Romans 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
It is all about reward and whom you are
looking to for the reward.
Hebrews 11: 24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called
the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the
people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the
reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect
unto the recompense of the reward.
Moses sought the reward from Yahweh rather than the reward that he could see
right before him.
God is our rewarder, he will reward diligence, and so be committed hard working,
sacrificial.
Some people never get to that place of diligence because they doubt Gods ability
Malachi 3; 13 Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye
say, what have we spoken so much against thee? Ye have said, It is vain to serve
God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have
walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? And now we call the proud happy;
yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even
delivered.
My Friend we must repent God is faithful and will reward faithfulness.
Promotion will come from him.
