David said that we should taste and see that God is good.
Have you noticed when you are in the first stages of relationship, you show your partner your best side, your good points. In new relationships we hold back, sometimes it is a defense strategy, to prevent us from being hurt, it could be because we do not trust the person fully as yet.
I can declare today do not have reservations with God; I will give him my everything. For God is good, even Jesus declared this. When a young man came to him and said good master what shall I do to inherit eternal life; Jesus responded, there is none good but God.
Do not believe the lie of the devil.
The devil is the greatest liar around, another name he is known as is Beelzebub, Liar and slanderer, to malign someone, and we know he has done an effective job in deceiving the world.
Jeremiah picks out a wonderful statement 29; 11
Many read this scripture out of context, when you read it within the text, then you can understand why God gave Jeremiah such words of comfort for the captives of Judah,
They are in a strange city, with an alien culture to themselves, the Lord is advising them not to fight or even resist, live a normal life where you are marry wives, have children, go to college there and get an education, while I work things out for you, this trial is for your good, for if you had continued on in your sin I would have had to destroy you as I did Sodom. Develop fallow land for farming; carry on with life as normal. Then he goes on to say my thoughts about you are good, and he reassures them that their end will far out way the means.

Even our trials are for our good.

Romans 8: 8And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose
The trial will work out in the end for your good.
Another point that is missed here is that this promise is not universal; it is only for saints, first the Jews then the whosoever will.

Until we grasp this concept of Gods goodness our faith will be affected.

James is a practical Christian; to James Christianity is not just a theory, but a life that is lived. He cares about the doers and not hearers only.

Look at what James says 1: 13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 18Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

To put this in common laymens term.
If you are going through a particular trial at this time you are never to say I am tempted by God
You are just being enticed and drawn away by your own lust.
He says do not err, do not miss it, God is not doing this to you, God is good, and he is the source of every good gift.
Every company has a reputation, they are either known for there quality, or they have a bad record and bad name for their product.
James is reassuring us the, God is better than the most reputable company.
From him proceeds goodness.
Oh taste and see this friend, he is a lasting flavor
Psalms 34: 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

Mr and Mrs. religious Christian you also need to taste, you have a form and a knowledge but you need to really taste him, when you taste him, one Sunday will never be enough, do not make judgments taste and see.
Jesus said if any man thirst let him drink of the water of life.
Mr Sinner taste

Romans 2: 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

This scripture highlights the fact that it is not the terror of God that drives us to the cross, but the goodness of God.
Many may come to escape the eternal flames of fire, as if they will spend a billion years in some hellish region that again is a lie from Satan for the soul that sinneth shall die. Eternal separation from God the source of life, and not eternal experiences.
Again it said that the wicked shall be ashes under our feet.

God is good, put your faith in him, look beyond the flesh, look beyond the human representation and see Jesus.
Taste and see that the lord is good
Satan is a Liar, he started that first lie in heaven, also in the Garden of Eden, Jesus called him the father of lies, and he called him a liar from the beginning.

An example; I have a little daughter called Eilish, and you can learn so much from little ones. Jesus used children many times as a metaphor to explain, a spiritual principle.
Eilish is so different from the boys, they were angels compared to her.
She has developed her own mind already, and one of her faults is to judge a meal, or food before she even tastes it. So from the look of it she turns her head, mmm she says meaning no. She hasn't tasted it, but from the appearance of it , she has decided that she does not want it.
The other day I was eating an ice cream and offered it to her, of course Eilish being Eilish she turned her head away. But this time I did something very different. I touched just a bit of it on the end of her lips; then she must have without knowing tasted a bit, her eyes lighted up, and instead of turning her head away, she turned her head towards me with her tongue out. You see once she had tasted it, that sweet cool flavour, she now followed me around the room with her tongue out.
This is the same principle with God and the things that pertain to the Kingdom of God.
You make a judgement about God and usually that judgement is based on a lie.
You turn your head away at the appearance of it. You look at the church and see the outside, you see the singing, and maybe you see too much culture or too much of the Pastors personality, or some other strong personality in the church, and you turn your head away.
I pray that there is not too much of me in the church, I don't want it to block your way or hinder you from seeing Jesus. But I promise you that if you look beyond this human representation, you will see Jesus, if you just taste, the richness of his love, the coolness of his peace, and bask in his provision, you will always have your tongue out, and David said taste and see that the Lord is good.
The flavour is good, in the cinemas Willy Wonka made and everlasting gobstopper where the flavour continues forever. But I can say that Jesus has a flavour that is everlasting and that flavour will never die out.
God is good do not believe the Lie of the devil

Embrace the Lord, when you have a true understanding of the Lord and the Goodness of his character you will never ever doubt him again.

Remember The Lord said o job that he darkened counsel by words without wisdom, some of the things Job mentioned about God, and his ways were not absolutely true, they were according to his understanding, and the proverbs teach us as human beings not to lean on our own understanding.
Sometimes we as preacher darken Gods counsel by the way we present him to the world,
God is good and will always remain so. Men change, but God will never change.
James says there is no varying, he does not change as we do.
Love him and serve him with all our heart for he is Good.
